Jewelry for a blue moon

In honor of the blue moon this week, a look at jewelry that celebrates la luna.

A second full moon in one month is rare enough, but a blue moon that falls on New Year’s Eve is worthy of some serious ornament.

So I combed the known universe to find the most innovative approaches to the lunar theme, as well as the highest level of craftsmanship.

I’m sure you’ll agree these pieces and the artists who created them – Jacob Albee, Genevieve Yang and Sue Szabo – are out of this world.

    Hello Cathleen,

FABULOUS jewelry, indeed! So imaginative, and I especially love the inspiration behind Lunar Month. And what a great theme you chose.

I also would like to share a piece I designed, based on a 4,000 year-old Native Irish lunula. I emphasized the crescent moon shape and updated the design with an inscribed image of the Uffington Horse from England. The face is sterling, and the back is bronze, in honor of the Celtic culture, which valued bronze jewelry. I invite you to take a look, you will find them on my web site. I look forward to keeping updated on your creations, as well!

    Jennifer
